I am more of a digital planner, mostly because it has been more convenient to use one of my devices for planning. The disadvantage is that my planning is spread across several apps. I use the Calendars app to plan my day; Google Docs to plan my goals for the month; take notes on my Notes app; and create long-term plans on Microsoft Word. And I use Trello to plan all of my projects. It is all a bit overwhelming at times, so when I was provided with a physical planner to try, I was excited. The best thing about this planner is that it is a Christian planner! Below is my review of the Hope Planner.
Hope Planner Review
I began a trial run of the Hope Planner on March 1st. The timing was perfect since March 1st was also a Monday. The first thing I noticed was its color; rather than being flashy, it is a neutral gray with gold lettering. The cover is actually made of fabric and inside the cover is a handy pocket. It comes with a beautiful bookmark that has a scripture and a prayer etched in gold letters. The scripture is Psalm 119:105. The rest of the bookmark contains a prayer for God’s promises to lead my day, not my own plans. This is a good reminder because we can so easily lose sight of the fact that God orders our steps, not our plans! The bookmark detaches from the spiral so that you can move it around to always mark your current page in the planner.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
– Psalms 119:105 AMP
There are two types of Hope Planners you can choose from: the Daily Edition and the Weekly Edition. I decided to go with the Weekly Edition because it is a full year planner that lets you see both a full month and a full week at a glance.
The Weekly Edition
The Weekly Edition is divided by month with tabs. Stickers for each month come with it so that you can label the tabs. However, you can do more than plan your months and weeks with the Hope Planner; it is also a prayer journal! The first page of each month is a scripture followed by two lined pages for Bible study.
Next is a page to record the overview of your devotion for the month, any projects you will be working on, and notes. In contrast, the Daily Edition is only 6 months, but the advantage is that you get one page per day for daily devotion notes as well as a space for your daily prayer journaling. This would be much more useful for me since my devotions are not one month long, but can range anywhere from three days to several weeks.
Each month’s section is divided into additional subsections. There is a Month at a Glance section followed by Week at a Glance sections for each week of the month. Each Week at a Glance section begins with a page to record specifics from your devotion and a blank page to take notes. The blank page is perfect for recording notes from your Sunday sermon.
The Complete Planner
What I like best about this planner is that it is a combined Bible Study and Prayer Journal. There are places throughout the month to record your prayer lists: on the month-at-a-glance page and at the bottom of each week-at-a-glance section. There are also trackers to help you note which days you completed Bible study, had prayer and quiet time, practiced your memory verse, and two other habits of your choice to track. There are also beautiful scriptures at the top of every other page to read and reflect on, as well as plenty of note-taking spaces to write your reflections.
Another thing that I like is that you can both see your full month and a full week at a time, where you can write your detailed daily to-do lists. That it includes reminders to practice hospitality in the Reach Out To section on each Week at a Glance page is a nice touch.
What I wish about this planner is that it was refillable. Instead, when it is full you will have to buy a whole new one. Also, the 12-month Weekly Edition is quite heavy so it is perfect for keeping on your desk rather than lugging around.
What are your thoughts about planners? Do you prefer digital planning or using a physical one? I will not do away with my digital planning tools, but I definitely see a use for adding this planner to my arsenal. It is perfect for setting yearly and monthly goals and for keeping your day focused on God’s Word instead of the distractions of this world. I’m using Clever Fox this year, but hope to start with something new this fall. I’ll look into this one!
I have never heard of Clever Fox. I think you will love this one. Thank you! 😊
I love planning and always enjoy an honest planner review. I am definitely more pen and paper. And no digital. I have tried that and always return to the paper.
I find it hard to stick with digital planners, but I do find the reminders helpful! 😊
I love planners!
Looks like some nice features in this one.
Printables are my choice for right now.
Thanks for the helpful review.
I agree that planners are a lot of fun! I have not given printable a try, but I can see how they can be very useful. 😊
My second love is planning! Though sometimes things doesn’t go as planned. Planning helps me organized and stay on track. I super love the bible scriptures on these planners. Will definitely check this one. Thank you for sharing!
I find planning to be very helpful, too. Anytime I feel all over the place, I stop and plan. It refocuses me on what needs to be done now and what to work on later. I hope you do, and you’re welcome! 😊
This looks like a good investment. I really appreciate the motivational quotes and then the free space to capture any thoughts after morning prayer and meditation.
I agree, that is a great addition to a planner. It helps us remember what is important. 🙏🏽
I haven’t had a non digital planner in some time but this looks like a wonderful choice. It’s always nice to have inspiring and motivational quotes to keep pushing you forward daily.
I agree, well said! 😊
I use both paper and digital planning tools for both task and goal setting. Mostly, I use paper for daily tasks and calendars. Although, I do set digital calendar reminders. And MS Excel for monthly and yearly goals and tasks.
I use a combination of both at times, mostly paper for daily tasks. It sounds like you have a great system figured out! 👏🏽😊
How exciting that looks. As I can no longer handwrite, I must use a digital planner. But I love what this includes!
Yes, it is a lot of fun! Sorry you are not be able to make use of it. 😔🙏🏽💕
