What I am Reading This Month

You are probably expecting me to list some great books that I have been reading this summer. I used to be an avid reader so I totally would have in the past; now, I no longer have the time. And when I do read, it is for information. For example, the one book I will include on my list is Brittany Hennessy’s Influencer: Building Your Personal Brand in the Age of Social Media. I started reading this book when I launched my blog and will continue reading it as it guides me along in my blogging journey.

As a new blogger, I have also been reading a variety of blog posts. I primarily choose articles about blogging to help me grow as a blogger; I still have so much to learn, even four months in. But my favorite articles to read are those in the lifestyle niche to inspire me in my own writing. As a Christian lifestyle blogger, I am finding that I have to create my own path as the other Christian bloggers that I have encountered thus far focus more on Bible study than life application as I do.

And finally, I am reading scriptures on joy. Joy was my word of the month on my social media calendar for the month of June. However, I ended up posting primarily about love, my word for this month, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement during the height of the protests. Joy is so important to have right now during these uncertain times; that is why I chose joy for my word of the month and why one of my favorite scriptures on joy is:

“And do not be worried, for the joy of the LORD is your strength and your stronghold.”

Nehemiah 8:10b
