When I saw the invitation to join the Consistency Challenge by successful influencer, Mattie James, I knew I had to participate. I first saw Mattie James speak at Stage for the Creators Conference on the YouTube channel KevOnStage. She gave amazing advice and tips on every aspect of blogging, so I knew participating in her challenge would be a good opportunity for me to learn from the best.
Specifically, she taught a class called Side Hustle to Full Time Influencer and gave action steps to take in the areas of:
- Planning
- Organizing and Operating
- Investing
- Saving and Serving
- Exiting (your 9 to 5) and Executing (as a full-time influencer)
You may have noticed that each point that she touched on spells the word poise. She concluded by explaining that when we poise ourselves for the position of influencer, we will succeed. I definitely felt poised by the end of her class, so there was no way I was going to miss out on her Consistency Challenge.
Another reason I joined the Consistency Challenge is because doing so granted me access to her private Facebook group. A major part of blogging is spending time in Facebook groups networking with other bloggers. To gain access to an exclusive one run by a top influencer is yet another opportunity to learn from and grow with other bloggers.
Even better is that at the end of each week of the challenge, we submitted what we considered to be our best blog post in this Facebook group for Mattie James to read. And if she felt inspired by that one post, she would read the others. That opportunity alone was enough to encourage me to sign up for the challenge. Knowing a successful influencer is reading at least one of your blog posts every week is very motivating!
Even though I knew I was going to try this challenge, I was not so confident that I would be able to complete it. Blogging five days a week is a lot of work. I did not even know what I would write about! However, I figured if Mattie James was challenging us to do so, that I should at least try. Needless to say, I was very relieved when she later posted several topics that we could write about.
When I first started the challenge, I stuck closely to her suggested topics. The challenge was about sharing the blogger’s story, and I wanted to make sure I was doing that. Since those topics were about my own story, they did not involve research, a real time-saver when you have to write a new post every day. By the second week, though, I started adding some of my own topics, including those that required some research.
One of the advantages of participating in this challenge for me, then, has been that I have become much faster at writing; by the end of it, my posts were twice as long. Another advantage is that as a new blogger, I now have so much more content on my blog, content that I can now use to create other content. I think though that the greatest advantage of my participation in this challenge is that I will continue to learn and benefit from it long after it is over.
So if you are a blogger reading this, I highly recommend that you join the next challenge. It will be difficult but the benefits far outweigh the effort that goes into it.
By the way, three popular posts in this challenge so far are My Self-Care Routine, 5 Things that Bring Me Joy, and Ways to Bless Your Community. If you haven’t already, please check them out, and as usual, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Would you join a 20-day blogging challenge?
Until next time!
Very inspiring 🙂 Will look into this challenge for sure 😀
Yes, I am glad you are inspired! I think there is going to be one again next month, though it may be a different challenge. Thanks for the comment. 😊
This sounds like a really neat challenge because consistency is key to be successful as a blogger and/or in your online business. In fact, I think it’s one of the pillars of success. And the improvements you made with writing content are fabulous!
Yes, this challenge was ingenious! Thank you so much! 😊
I’m a huge fanof challenges! I love ones that really push you out of your comfort zone. I can tell this challenge really “challenged” you to become more consisent. Consistency is something I struggle with and I’m very tempted to join this challenge next time around. Thanks for posting this!
You’re welcome! That challenge for me, though, was writing more content. And it definitely challenged me for sure! You’re welcome 😊
This is so inspiring, sweet friend. I pray the Lord will help me step out in my writing. It’s been a very heavy season and I feel as though I’ve gone further backwards than forward. God bless you in your faithfulness.
Thank you so much, Andrea. One thing I have learned about creating any kind of content is to only do so when you feel inspired. Take your time. Your social media content is amazing!!! 😍💯
That is really important to stay consistent, specially when growing a blog or a youtube. I’m growing my youtube channel right now and perfectly know the effort. But consistency will eventually take me to the targets.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Yes, it will! Keep it up! 👏🏽
