Modest Fashion

Best Brands for Fall Modest Fashion

A lady in modest fashion is covering her mouth with a fall leaf.

Some people love fall so much that they can’t wait for summer to be over.  They start posting about pumpkin spice lattes and fall recipes on social media as early as the first day of September.  I personally enjoy every season, and of any of them that I do not want ended prematurely, it’s summer.  In the summer, the days are long, making it the perfect time for relaxation.  I will admit, however, that summer is also the best and perfect time to shop for fall fashion during all of the Back to School and Labor Day Weekend sales.

So what should you buy?  Even here in California, where fall is still quite warm, it is much easier to achieve modesty in fall with fashion than it is in summer.  Still, it was quite a challenge to put together a list of fall essentials that were both modest and fashionable.

FAVORITE MODEST FASHION BRANDS

When it comes to brands, not all are created equal in the modest style department.  For some, their entire line specializes in showing too much skin.  And others provide sufficient coverage at the expense of style.  There is a balance that needs to be struck for a brand to be what I consider modestly fashionable.  I think these brands do it best.

Good American

Good American is my favorite modest fashion brand for jeans.  As you probably know, jeans can be hard to shop for.  The problem I always had that I am sure has been an issue for many others is finding a pair that didn’t gap at the waist.  Good American has a collection called Good Waist that solves that problem.  Whether you get a pair that is high waisted or mid-rise, skinny or relaxed, the fit promises to be waist-nipping.

If the waist isn’t your problem area, they also have the Good Legs and the amazing Always Fits collections.  A stylist once brought me a pair of Good American jeans to try on.  The fit was so amazing that the only reason I did not buy them is that I already owned a similar pair.  And even then, it was really hard not to.  Not only was the fit good, they feel good, and they make you look good.  Because of this positive experience, I totally believe their claim that the jeans in the Always Fits collection stretches up to 4 sizes and thus, always fits.  Sounds like a contender for a Thanksgiving Day outfit, right?

Anyway, these Good American styles are on my Fall Essentials Wishlist because I can move around in them without giving anyone a view inside. Oh, and I almost forgot the best part: you get $50 off your first pair! 👏🏽🤩

ASOS

For dresses, my favorite modest brand is ASOS.  Dresses should be easy to shop for in the fall with the weather getting colder.  The problem, however, is that many fall dresses are bodycon sweater dresses (or dresses that cling to your curves).  This is not a problem for ASOS, though, with their Modest Edit.  Here, you can find a lot of quality dresses to choose from that are stunning.  Here are a few of my favorites for fall.

Steve Madden

Steve Madden is my favorite brand for quality shoes that are both fashionable and comfortable.  What I like about this brand is that it adds a heel to all kinds of shoes–and in a stylish way–that you can wear all day with ease. Also, Steve Madden has a variety of collections that includes heels & platforms, boots & booties, sandals & wedges, loafers & flats, and mules & slippers. 👏🏽🤩 These are some of my favorites for fall.

AFFORDABLE MODEST FASHION

Now you may be thinking that these brands may be a little on the expensive side.  One of the things I would say to this is that the Proverbs 31 Woman’s clothing is fine.  With her as our example, the goal should be to make quality purchases with your money, not things that cost less but have to be replaced over and over again.

“Her clothing is linen, pure and fine, and purple [wool].”

– Proverbs 31:22b AMP

The other thing I say to this is that I understand.  Making quality purchases takes time and planning.  That’s why sales are so important and why you should follow me on LTK so that you will get alerted to those precious price drops. 😉

In the meantime, here are some more brands that I recommend as good alternatives while you are building up your fine wardrobe:

Express

Express is a great alternative to Good American for jeans.  Like Good American, Express jeans fit well in the waist and come in petite (short), regular, and tall (long). In addition to the traditional skinny, bootcut, cropped, straight leg, flare, and boyfriend jeans, Express also has mom jeans for those moms out there. And they have a nice collection of modest tops with their Portofino Shirts. If you like skinny jeans like me, modest tops such as tunic tops or tops with high-low hems, are important. What I am most excited about is that Express has a collection of supersoft jeans in all of the various styles.

SHEIN

SHEIN has a huge selection of modest dresses for very reasonable prices.  I mean, you can get a month’s worth of dresses for church for about $100, that’s how affordable this brand is!  Just enter ‘modest dresses’ in the search bar to browse the extensive options. The other advantage of their modest fashion selection when it comes to dresses is that most can be worn for a variety of occasions, taking you from day to night.  This is unlike ASOS dresses which seem to be overwhelmingly for evening occasions.

I haven’t shopped at SHEIN, yet, so here are some of the things I would put on my wishlist:

SHEIN also has a beautiful collection of modest tops. Again, just enter ‘modest tops’ in the search bar to browse the available options.

Until next time, Happy Labor Day, beauties!
