My inspiration for this post is Mary and Martha — the website, that is, not the actual sisters from the Bible. Have you heard of this website? They sell all kinds of beautiful Christian home decor that are perfect for helping you share your faith with your guests. I have previewed their latest fall catalog, so I will be introducing some of their products below and how they can help you minister to your guests.

Create an Inviting Porch

Your porch will be the first thing your guests see when they arrive at your house, so help them feel welcome before you even open your front door by making it inviting.

Make your porch an extension of your indoor decor with plants, flowers, and other greenery.  Not only are flowers aesthetically pleasing, you will be treating your guests to some aromatherapy when they visit.  Marigolds, sunflowers, colorful mums, and pansies are some of the varieties that will provide your porch with beautiful fall color.

Share your faith with this planter boxes to greet your guests

Transplant these or other low-maintenance plants and flowers into planters and/or planter boxes.  Mary and Martha sells these faith hope joy planters and planter boxes.  One box says, says, “Grow in Grace.” The other says, He makes all things beautiful in their own time. (not pictured).

Add a seasonal wreath to the door and you will be almost all set.

Share your faith with this Grace & Peace doormat

Make your porch a space where you can entertain your guests.  An outdoor rug can help define the space and layering a welcome mat over it will create visual interest and provide warmth and comfort for your guests like this one.

Add weather-resistant furniture on your porch and be sure to include cushions on all seating, such as a porch swing or wicker chairs, as well as plush pillows (and throws for colder months).

Let your light shine (Matthew 5:16), even on your porch, by using lanterns to add ambient lighting. Martha and Mary’s Everyday Lanterns come in three sizes, each with a message: God is light,” 1 John 1:5 (large); I am the Light of the world.” (medium); andLet your light shine.” (small).

Entertaining guests on your porch creates a spontaneous, casual atmosphere, and keeping a bar cart on your porch will make it all the more convenient.  Include a festive ice bucket and tray and stock it with cocktail napkins as well as some nuts. Then serve up one of these iced tea recipes. You can even serve it from Martha and Mary’s beautiful Queen Anne’s Lace Pitcher that has “Grace & Gratitude” embossed on it.

Set the Tone with Your Entryway

The entryway is the first thing your guests see when they enter your house.  This space gives you an opportunity to give them a glimpse into your lifestyle.  It is important then to make sure that your entryway is not a dumping ground for coats, shoes, mail, and keys.

Choose functional pieces that are stylish, to not only bring order to the area, but also show off your personality. An example is Martha and Mary’s Joshua 1:9 Wall Organizer. In addition to hooks for keys, coats, and bags, there are three interchangeable message inserts that include: “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Add a cozy chair or bench to make it easier to remove and put on shoes.  Arrange it near a stylish boot tray and umbrella stand to keep your entryway free of puddles.

Choose proper lighting for the space, either a pendant lamp or a table lamp.

Hang a piece of bold wall art, such as this Carved Wall Cross (pictured below). Also hang a beautiful mirror that can double as your bold art piece and so that you will be able to check your appearance one last time before heading out. Mary & Martha’s Wonderfully Made mirror is perfect for this.

Break Bread Together

Coming together in fellowship to share a meal is but one way to share your faith with your guests.  Mary and Martha has an entire line of Grace and Gratitude dinnerware and serving dishes with such beautifully embossed messages as:

They even have beautiful linens — such as napkins, a table runner, and tea towels — stitched with the word, “Thankful” on them.

How about starting off with some appetizers served on tiered risers engraved with “God is good all the time” and “All the time God is good.” Or serving them on a charcuterie board engraved with,A gracious home is a place of peace.”

And ending with dessert served from a dessert pedestal that says, Thankful for simple graces.”

“They broke bread together in different homes and shared their food happily and freely, while praising God.”

Acts 2:46-47

Liven Up the Living Room

The living room may be just the right place to enjoy dessert and coffee (for those who drink it unlike me).  The living room is more cozy and conducive to conversations.

You can use the Mary and Martha Give Thanks Lazy Susan to set up a coffee bar.  It is engraved with “Give thanks unto the LORD; for HE IS GOOD. – PSALM 106:1.”  Be sure to put out your “Begin each day with a grateful heart” heirloom mugs and maybe set out these Rejoice Coasters.

And speaking of Rejoice, now would be a great time to put on some of your favorite praise music would it not?

There are even some Christian versions of popular board games that you could play such as the Bible Edition of Scrabble, Scattergories, Monopoly (Bibleopoly), Taboo, and many others.  Check out Hello Sensible for these Bible games and others, as well as for game instructions.

And as always, do not forget lighting. Adding some candles will be a nice touch. Mary and Martha have a line of Sanctuary Candles that include messages such as “A Place of Compassion (Psalm 111:4)” and “A Place of Love (Psalm 40:16).”
