Lunching at The Polo Lounge

Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel

Nothing could have prepared me for the extravagance that was coming my way when I decided that I wanted to have lunch at the iconic Polo Lounge! This is one of those experiences that you have to try for yourself because words will not do it justice, but I will try anyway. Whether you live in L.A., or will be visiting, I highly recommend that you add lunch at The Polo Lounge to your itinerary.

Make sure you make reservations as far in advance as possible and try to arrange to arrive in an Uber.

My friends and I had to make our reservations at least one month in advance to get in. It was well worth the wait. I did not want to worry about parking as that can be a hassle here in L.A., so I took an Uber. It just so happened that my Uber driver had a luxury vehicle, so perhaps arriving in one was why I was greeted as a VIP when his car pulled up to the entrance? I was wowed!

Inquire about strolling the grounds.

Since we arrived early, we were invited to stroll the grounds while we waited. We were also told where we could find the favorite bungalows of such famous people as Marilyn Monroe while we were out on our walk. The walk was picturesque, to say the very least.

Make sure you pick out something stylish to wear!

The outstanding service continued when we were seated and our waiter immediately informed us that he would take our picture for us when we were ready. I have never before or since had a waiter not only offer, but state as a matter of fact, that he would be photographing our experience as patrons in their restaurant. Amazing! Here we are during the dessert course. That’s my friend that I met over a year before in my Flag Football church group in the middle, and my fellow teacher friend to her left.

It was really cold the day that we went, by L.A. standards, so it was hard to decide on what to wear. I decided on this and prayed that the heat lamps would work:

I enjoyed every aspect of my experience dining at the Polo Lounge: the beautifully set table; ordering from the fancy menu; the most delicious basket of bread that I have ever had placed before me; the plating of my fish tacos; the gourmet dessert…

But my favorite thing by far was… the take-home box!

I liked this box so much, that I could not bare to throw it away. The food is actually packaged inside of another beautiful box before it is placed inside of this one, so saving it was no problem. Isn’t it lovely?

Another surprisingly wonderful experience was visiting their restroom. It was so lavish, I did not want to leave; I just wanted to soak it all in. There was actually a lady in there sitting at the vanity in a dressing gown, applying makeup! I was a little tentative about speaking to her but she was very friendly and did not mind conversation.

Lastly, do not be surprised if you spot a celebrity or two!

My reward for reluctantly leaving that 5-Star restroom was that I crossed paths with Chef Gordon Ramsay! Our waiter told us that he is there all the time.
